Official superhero sneaker collaborations are rare enough that most of the best entries on this list are years old — but two current stories make this a good moment to revisit them. Avengers: Doomsday is bringing classic X-Men back to the MCU proper this December, with Ian McKellen’s Magneto, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, and James Marsden’s Cyclops all confirmed for the film. Below is every notable superhero sneaker release worth knowing, official collabs only, with the exact release date and style code for each.
Shoe Palace x Reebok Shaq Attaq “Superman” (2018)

It’s always exciting to see real-life basketball ‘heroes’ cover their signature sneakers in superhero-inspired hues. It’s even more exciting when said shoes are officially released. In 2018, Shaquille O’Neal and Reebok collaborated with Shoe Palace to drop a Superman iteration of the former baller’s famous Shaq Attaq shoes, timed to the 25th anniversary of his NBA All-Star debut. Although the style is mostly white, there are touches of blue and red throughout, and the tongue pump features Supes’ trademark logo front and center.

Nike GT Future “Lightning” — the Wolverine-Coded Colorway (2025)

Nike’s G.T. Future silhouette, unveiled at NBA All-Star 2025 and championed by rapper Wale, made its full retail debut in December 2025 — including a yellow and black “Lightning” edition that quickly became a fan favorite. Wale is mainly responsible for the tremendous hype around the G.T. Future, but there’s also the familiarity of its Hyperflight and Foamposite-inspired look. For this colorway, the shoe’s striated hard shell uppers are primarily coated in yellow but with a gradient finish that starts darker closer to the sole and fades to a lighter shade towards the top. The remaining details, including the inside bootie and branding, are then kept simple in black. Even with all this new silhouette has to offer, sneakerheads seem to be divided on the look. But we may be sold on this yellow and black pair simply because the color scheme reminds us a bit of Wolverine.

Marvel x Air Jordan 1 “Origin Story” — Spider-Verse (2018)

Not every Spider-Man sneaker has to be red and blue. Jordan Brand offered their classic “Chicago” colorway as the base for a team-up with Marvel and Sony Pictures’ animated blockbuster Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse back in 2018. Of course, they included some theme-appropriate details, including comic-style Ben-Day dots on the overlays, blue tongue labels, and frosty transparent outsoles. In the film, Miles Morales is seen wearing the actual “Chicago” AJ1 High design. DC Comics x PUMA Suede “Superman” — 85th Anniversary (2023)

PUMA marked Superman’s 85 years in comics with a Suede build dressed entirely in his classic palette — the shoe leans on full blue suede, red eyestays, and a yellow collar, with a Superman chest emblem stitched onto the tongue. PUMA’s own release copy actually calls the shoe a “Diamond Anniversary” release even though the official product name says “85th Anniversary” — a small inconsistency on PUMA’s end, not ours, but worth knowing if a reader asks. The standout details are functional rather than decorative: a removable Formstrip and a Daily Planet-styled hang tag, both nods to Clark Kent’s day job rather than the cape.

Powerpuff Girls x Nike SB Dunk Low Collection (2023)

Nike SB used sugar, spice, and everything nice to create a Powerpuff Girls collection for the show’s 25th anniversary. Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup each got their own Dunk Low design, complete with giant bug eyes on the heel. The designs also represent the girls’ different characteristics through distinct materials and details that correspond with the hero they represent.
Release Date: December 14, 2023 (skate shops) / December 15, 2023 (SNKRS) Style Code: Blossom FD2631-600 · Bubbles FZ8320-400 · Buttercup FZ8319-300

Kith x Marvel x ASICS Gel-Lyte III — X-Men 60th Anniversary (2023)

X-Men celebrated its 60th anniversary with an incredible collection by Kith and ASICS. Beast, Cyclops, Gambit, Rogue, and Storm all got to be the stars of their own Gel-Lyte III design. The rarest, of course, was Wolverine’s black, blue, and yellow kicks, released in two separate suit-era colorways. All seven pairs came in “blind box” packaging, which prevented sneakerheads from knowing which style they were buying — the surprise was definitely half the fun. With Avengers: Doomsday bringing Magneto, Professor X, and Cyclops back to the MCU this December, this is a good moment to revisit the sneaker history of a team that’s about to be relevant again.
Release Date: July 28, 2023 (Kith); July 19–23 early access at San Diego Comic-Con Style Code: No single SKU — released as a 7-pair blind-box collection, not individually numbered at retail

Nike Air Force 1 Low “Invisible Woman” — Fantastic Four (2006, updated 2025)

In 2006, Nike dropped a collection of sneakers inspired by the members of the Fantastic Four. One of the most noteworthy of the bunch was the Nike Air Force 1 “Invisible Woman.” The design included translucent panels at the forefoot, a look that was a lot more popular in the 2000s than it probably should have been. Still, these had sneakerheads in a chokehold when they dropped and remain one of the best superhero sneakers to ever release.
Nike revisited the idea in September 2025 with an “Invisible Woman 2.0,” released to coincide with The Fantastic Four: First Steps. It keeps the transparent TPU uppers from the original but swaps the blue leather overlays for white, with a soft gray Swoosh and the superhero family’s blue-and-white palette carried through the tongue tag, insoles, and heel branding.
Release Date: 2006 original: June 2006 (Quickstrike) Style Code: 313641-941
Release Date: 2025 update: September 11, 2025 (SNKRS) Style Code: IB5724-100

Nike Air Max 95 “Human Torch” — Fantastic Four (2006, returning 2027)

Another big hit from Nike’s unofficial Fantastic Four pack was the Nike Air Max 95 “Human Torch.” The Sergio Lozano-designed silhouette was pure fire, covered in a red-to-yellow gradient inspired by Johnny’s powers. With The Fantastic Four: First Steps now out in theaters and Nike actively bringing the rest of the 2006 pack back — the “Dr. Doom” Foamposite Pro is confirmed for 2026 and the “Mr. Fantastic” Air Max 90 is expected alongside it — the “Human Torch” is officially set to retro in Summer 2027, this time with a Big Bubble Air unit replacing the original cushioning setup.

Release Date: 2027 retro (confirmed) Style Code: IW2275-600

Doernbecher x Air Jordan 4 “Superman” (2011)

To call the Jordan 4 “Doernbecher” a grail is an understatement. A young Isaiah Scott dreamed up the shoe’s design as part of the Swoosh’s Doernbecher Freestyle initiative, which lets patients at the Children’s Hospital in Portland express themselves through sneaker design. Scott, who was undergoing leukemia treatment and had earned the nickname “Superman” from his mother for his stoic approach to it, built the design around Warner Bros.-approved Superman branding on the tongue, with neon green laces representing Kryptonite. This pair has had sneakerheads drooling over its unique details for years.

Nike Kobe 5 “Dark Knight” (2010)

Some of Kobe Bryant’s best colorways have been inspired by his favorite movies, so it’s not unexpected to see a Dark Knight-themed sneaker in his lineup. The black and blue color scheme is a subtle nod to Batman’s suit, but one that still manages to stand out.
Release Date: January 22, 2010 Style Code: 386429-001

LaMelo Ball x TMNT x PUMA MB.04 (2025)

LaMelo Ball and PUMA delivered one of the most famous superhero quartets of the ’80s with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-themed MB.04 collection. Each pair came in a mismatched design, with one of the turtle brothers represented on each foot — Raphael paired with Donatello in one release, Leonardo with Michelangelo in another. These were definitely one of the most unusual spins on the theme, but they seemed very much in sync with TMNT’s roots in the ’80s.
Release Date: February 8, 2025 (Donatello & Raphael) / February 14, 2025 (Leonardo & Michelangelo) Style Code: 312055-01 · 311307-01

Jordan Tatum 3 “Superman” PE — Not for Sale (2025)

The NBA tunnel walk has become a runway for players to show off their personal style, and Celtics star Jayson Tatum leaned all the way in during Game 1 of the 2025 NBA Playoffs. His custom Superman-themed Tatum 3s were built by sneaker artist Mache Customs specifically for that appearance — a matte blue base, shiny red patent leather panels, and the S-shield worked into the design. This is a player exclusive, not a retail release, so there’s no purchase path and no style code. It’s here because it’s one of the most talked-about superhero sneaker moments of the year, not because you can buy it.
Release Date: Worn: Game 1, 2025 NBA Playoffs Style Code: N/A — custom one-off PE, not commercially released
Marvel x Kith x ASICS GT-2160 “Spider-Man” — Super Villains Collection (2024)

Kith is known for nailing superhero-themed sneakers, but this 2024 collaboration tapped into the villainous side of things — the “Super Villains” collection paired ASICS’ Gel-1130, Gel-Kayano 14, and GT-2160 with Magneto, Silver Surfer, Venom, and Green Goblin. Despite all the bad guys in the collection, the trio still gifted fans a “Spider-Man” ASICS GT-2160, sold as a two-shoe Battle Spectra pack alongside the Venom colorway. The pair has the classic blue and red look fans enjoy without being overly flashy, and it comes packaged with an exclusive comic book.
Release Date: August 9, 2024 (Kith); July 25, 2024 early access at San Diego Comic-Con Style Code: 1203A660-DBSPVN (Spider-Man/Venom pack)

Marvel x adidas “Avengers: Age of Ultron” Basketball Collection (2015)

Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor took center stage in this collaboration between Marvel and adidas, timed to Avengers: Age of Ultron‘s theatrical release. The four-shoe set paired each Avenger with a retro adidas Basketball model — the Crazy 97 for Captain America, the T-Mac 1 for Hulk, the Top Ten 2000 for Iron Man, and the Real Deal for Thor. This is one superhero collection where you don’t have to guess which character each shoe symbolizes; the sneakers are bold and unmistakable.
Release Date: July 4, 2015 Style Code: Varies by model/retailer archive — no single unified SKU published across the four-shoe set

Sneaker Fortress “Superman” Air Jordan 1 — Editorial Concept

We had to end our list with these incredible Jordan 1 sneakers designed by our own Sneaker Fortress team. The design offers the standard blue, red, and yellow color palette, but throws in 3D Kryptonite-esque Swooshes for added flair. This is an in-house concept design, not a commercial product — nobody can buy it, and there’s no style code because none was ever assigned by Nike or Jordan Brand. We’re including it as a design exercise, not a release.
Release Date: Editorial concept — not released Style Code: N/A — in-house design, not a commercial product
