These Custom Air Jordan 14 “Dune” Sneakers Look Straight Out of Arraki

We love the dusty horrorscape and arid action that is Dune, so we designed these Air Jordan 14 "Dune" custom sneakers.

Dune: Part 2 may have debuted in cinemas in 2024, but the stunning/epic science fiction continues to captivate the world. While Arrakis seems like a terribly hostile place to be, many fans wish they were a part of the action in Dune, and there’s no better way to do that than in a pair of custom Nike Air Jordan 14 “Dune” sneakers.

Designing a pair of custom Nike sneakers requires a base silhouette that is equally futuristic and classic, especially in a futuristic but clandestine setting like Dune. For these sneakers, we decided on the Air Jordan 14, taking the already beautiful “Black Ferrari” colourway and adding a touch of, well, Dune.

Starting from the bottom, the stunning sneakers, initially modelled after MJ’s stylish sports car, a Ferrari, have mostly kept their shape. The outsole on the bottom is a deep black rubber, matching the rubber armour of the Fremen, the folk who have learned to survive the hostile world of Arrakis.

The arch of the outsole takes on a deep red hue, matching the perforated upper of the sneakers. This stunning red hue is reminiscent of Arrakis’s beautiful but deadly deserts. At the same time, the hardware elements of the upper, the inner lining, the laces and the tongue all take on the same shade as the outsole.

Of course, the Empire is so intent on controlling Arrakis because of the bountiful supply of Melange, otherwise known as Spice. The psychedelic drug also prolongs the user’s lifespan, making it invaluable in this universe. This coveted resource is represented as sparkling gold hardware that functions as a midsole on the sneakers, perfectly complementing the golden Ferrari-like sigil that bears the Jumpman logo on the sneakers.

Although we designed these beautiful sneakers, we would kill to see them created in real life. As big fans of the Dune franchise, we would definitely cop these sneakers if they were real.

The world of Dune is stunning. It was first brought to life in 1965 as an epic science fiction novel by the brilliant author Frank Herbert. Instantly becoming a classic in the science fiction community, the concept was quickly turned into a fantasy epic film in 1984, starring brilliant stars like Kyle MacLachlan, Francesca Annis, Patrick Stewart, Sean Young, Everett McGill and even Sting.

In 2021, Denis Villeneuve directed a reboot of the fantastic tale with actors like Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Furguson, Oscar Isaac, Stellan Skarsgård, and Jason Momoa, telling the story of House Atreides on Arrakis. Many of these fantastic stars will return in 2024, along with new additions like Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and Léa Seydoux, continuing the epic story of Dune in a sequel movie. Time will tell if we see more of this story, as a third movie is waiting to be greenlit.

At least we have these beautiful concept sneakers to look at while waiting to see if we can see more of this fantastic story.
