Part of the beauty of being a Jordan Brand athlete is the chance to score exclusive player editions of some of the most iconic silhouettes in the Air Jordan line. One such design that seems to be the subject of much envy and hype right now is the Jayson Tatum “Mustang” Air Jordan 14 PEs from 2022.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
Though these kicks are not brand-new, they have lately resurfaced—and have sneakerheads drooling once again —thanks to posts by both Tatum and English Sole.
These spectacular red and black Jordan 14 sneakers are inspired by Tatum’s equally incredible custom 1966 Ford Mustang. Both sneakers boast plush suede uppers and quilted leather panels at the medial side (a detail likely modelled after the Mustang’s luxe interior). Each pair also has identical grill-inspired midsoles and trimmed chrome piping that perfectly captures the sleek and luxe design of the classic muscle car. However, the black pair has a hint of glossy patent leather at the toe and eyestays to mirror the Mustang’s shiny exterior finish.
Other distinctive design features include a chrome lateral ankle badge featuring the Jumpman emblem and the baller’s name, as well as his jersey number on the heel branding.
Jayson Tatum “Mustang” Air Jordan 14 PE Release Details
Unfortunately, Tatum and a select group of people are the only ones who own these PEs. That said, Jordan Brand has been known to release limited edition player exclusives in the past, so there’s still some hope for a future release or a similar design.
For now, sneakerheads can look forward to the return of the just as stylish Air Jordan 14 Red “Ferrari” this year and a special collaboration with Infinite Archives on the Jordan 17. And remember to follow Sneaker Fortress for more sneaker drops and news.
