In 2015, many might have found it hard to believe that former American football quarterback Michael Dwayne Vick’s signature shoe line would make a comeback. But, lo and behold, Nike did just that and revived the shoe for its 10th Anniversary. Looking ahead, as the 20th Anniversary of the shoe’s original release approaches next year, could we possibly witness another revival of the Nike Air Zoom Vick 2 “Falcons”?

A Look Back at the Trainers

The striking Nike Air Zoom Vick 2 made quite a splash when it originally debuted back in 2005. However, due to the controversy surrounding Vick – having admitted his participation in a dogfighting ring – Nike, who had signed him as a rookie in 2001, severed ties in August 2007. The resultant fallout saw the shoe being discontinued and resigned to becoming a relic of the training shoe scene.

In the wake of his challenges, Vick underwent a personal transformation. After a noteworthy period of working for redemption (a time of community service and charity work), Vick found his way back into Nike’s circle of athletes in 2011. But the unique Zoom Vick 2 line remained just a memory.

Nevertheless, after a ten-year hiatus, the Swoosh surprised everyone by deciding to revive this signature trainer line. One of the colour schemes released in 2015 to mark the shoe’s 10th Anniversary is showcased here on the feet of sneaker lover Malshmallow Valenzona.

The “Falcons” edition of the Nike Air Zoom Vick 2, with its stunning mix of “Black”, “White”, and “University Red”, pays a fitting tribute to Michael Vick’s stint with the Atlanta Falcons. When it hit the shelves, these kicks were priced reasonably at $160 USD.

With its base of perforated black leather complemented with synthetic overlays in contrasting “White” and “Black” hues, the shoe is undoubtedly eye-catching.

Adding to the drama of this design, vibrant “University Red” accents draw attention to the back of the tongue and heel tab.

Vick’s iconic jersey number is prominently displayed on the toe, heel and midsole, with the Nike Swoosh cleverly embossed on the side panels. To top it all off, Vick’s signature script punctuates the tongue, conveniently accompanied by a mini swoosh just above it.

Last but not least, the shoe incorporates a uniquely crafted dynamic heel wrap and visible air cushioning in the heel for that touch of aesthetic and functional brilliance.

Could the Nike Air Zoom Vick 2 “Falcons” be re-released for its 20th Anniversary?

Needless to say, the Nike Air Zoom Vick 2 “Falcons” is what we’d define as a true stunner in the world of kicks. We’re keeping our fingers crossed and hoping that next year will bring with it a Nike retro release of this stylish line, especially this colourway.

However, as it stands, Nike hasn’t shared any confirmation of this prospect. But if you’re eager to get your hands on this Atlanta Falcons-inspired design, or any of the other vibrant colourways birthed by this signature line, make sure to search through the offerings on resale platforms such as eBay, GOAT or StockX.
