If you’re a dedicated follower of the sneaker world, it’s pretty likely that you’re already well-acquainted with the distinctive aesthetic of Off-White. And even if you’re not a self-proclaimed sneakerhead, it’s almost impossible not to be familiar with the unique vibe their team ups with Nike offer. Their notable zip-tie and deconstructed design elements have likely graced your social media feeds at one point or another. As an increasing number of sneaker artists tap into the well of Off-White and Nike collaborations for their unique designs, we find ourselves marvelling at yet another remarkable creation – the Air Jordan 4 Retro “Dusk” created by Lorenzo Federici.

All the Colours of the Sunset

When you see the word “dusk”, it’s hard not to imagine the beautiful array of rich oranges, soft pinks, and deep purple hues that paint the sky during sunset. Now, imagine all that beauty captured in sneaker form. Well, the Off-White x Air Jordan 4 Retro “Dusk” custom design sports a magical dip-dyed effect, ensuring that each time you look down at your feet, you’re struck by the stunning splendour of a setting sun.

The lower half of the upper remains loyal to the original ‘Sail’ leather of the 2020 Off-white AJ 4 design. However, the remainder of the shoe is covered with a spectrum of warm colours that perfectly capture the shift from daylight to dusk.

Vibrant yellow washes over the mudguard as the collar, eye stays, and tongue deviate with a delicate gradient effect that transitions from light pink to violet.

The distinctive netting and wing tabs have not been left out; they are adorned in tones of yellow, orange, and cerise that add to the shoe’s overall sunset-inspired aesthetic.

While the Off-White x Air Jordan 4 Retro “Dusk” may not look at all like the original colourway that inspired it, thanks to the splashes of vibrant colours strategically placed throughout the shoe, it still maintains the signature Off-White and Nike design elements that fans have come to love.

The signature Helvetica text is featured on the medial side of the shoe, while the classic Off-White zip tie takes on the sneaker’s dusky-coloured hues. You will also find “Air” written on the rear of the sole unit in Off-White’s iconic quotation marks. So, even though the colourway may be different, the design details still make it unmistakably them.

Of course, while this Air Jordan 4 sneaker has all the signature Off-White detailing throughout its design, it does remind us of another distinct Jordan collaboration.

Why Does This Colour Scheme Look Familiar?

The vibrant colour palette of these custom Off-White x Air Jordan 4 Retro “Dusk” sneakers might bring to mind the J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 “Medellin Sunset.” However, in my humble view, this Air Jordan 4 creation elevates the design concept to entirely new heights. Perhaps it’s the shoe’s silhouette that enhances its overall appearance, or maybe credit goes to the sneaker artist’s daring exploration of colour. Although I can’t quite put a finger on it, it’s undeniably clear that this collaboration is a triumph in terms of design execution.

So, Where Can I Grab The Off-White x Air Jordan 4 Retro “Dusk”?

Sadly, the Air Jordan 4 “Dusk” design was a limited edition masterpiece, crafted by Lorenzo in 2022 with only five units existing. That said, it does open up an entire world of possibilities for one-of-one customs from the designer. So, be sure to check out his page, find a sneaker silhouette you love, and reach out for your own custom creation.

What do you think of the Off-White x Air Jordan 4 Retro “Dusk”? Is this a colourway you would wear, or do you prefer the slightly more subtle J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 “Medellin Sunset”?
