Nothing goes together like the pop culture worlds of video games and sneakers. Often, the two worlds collide, and the collision’s aftermath is nothing short of beautiful. Nothing is quite as sleek as the PlayStation 5, but a pair of Air Jordan 5s come close, so what happens when you combine the two? The answer is magic…and a pair of PS5 x Air Jordan 5 sneakers.
Official PlayStation Sneakers
Nike has collaborated with Sony and PlayStation to make stunning sneakers, including the beautiful Nike PG 2.5 x PlayStation sneakers launched in 2018 and a more recent pair with Paul George in 2021.
During the first week of December, Sony launched their miniature PS Classic and collaborated with Nike to drop Paul George-inspired Nike PG 2.5 x PlayStation sneakers.
In line with the release of the miniature PS Classic, the sneakers were modelled after the original PlayStation rather than the PS4, one of the leading consoles at the time.
Just a couple of years later, Paul George and PlayStation couldn’t help themselves but release a stunning PlayStation 5 colourway for the Nike PG 5 (I mean, duh), which brought the sleek aesthetic of Sony’s latest console at the time to life on a pair of white and blue sneakers. The design of the PG 5 was even more beautiful than the previous collaboration, partly due to Sony’s designers who worked on the PS5 worked on the design of the sneakers.

Custom PlayStation Sneakers
Of course, as with any concept, if you look hard enough, you can find beautiful custom sneakers for them. Among the plethora of stunning custom sneaker artists sits Freaker Sneaks. The custom sneaker brand has a few beautiful options for custom Air Jordan 4 sneakers, including their Jordan IV “PlayStation 1” Edition and their Air Jordan “JRDN4 x PS4 20th Anniversary” custom sneakers.
The PlayStation 1 variant of the sneakers is a stunning grey that comes complete with a working D-pad and buttons embedded in the heels of the sneaker, as well as a custom hang tag that looks exactly like a PS1 game cartridge.
The PlayStation 4 version took on a white, blue, and grey colourway inspired by Sony’s 20th Anniversary PS4 console in 2014. It chose to include the original colourful PS4 logo rather than swap it out for the plainer PS4 option.
A PlayStation 5 virtual sneaker design was created by @clegfx working with @rtfktstudios back in 2020, and despite being awesomely designed, the pair isn’t real. A variation of the virtual sneakers could be used as a filter on Snapchat, using AR to augment your sneakers to look like these.
Unfortunately, Freaker Sneaks’ site has been quiet for the longest time, with all of their beautiful sneakers, like the Nike Air “NES” Jordan IV, the Jordan “N64” IV, and even the Jordan IV “GAME BOY”, remaining sold out. Thank goodness our creative team was inspired to give us this stunning concept.
Our Custom PS5 x Air Jordan 5 Concept
Our take on the PlayStation 5 concept couldn’t have been with any other silhouette besides the Air Jordan 5. It’s just too perfect. The sneakers feature a beautiful white, grey, black and deep electric blue, just like Sony’s next-gen console.
It features all four colours on the outsole and midsole. It includes a clear semi-translucent mid-section and a blue semi-translucent window into the air unit embedded within the heel. The sneakers are atop a gorgeous base that features the updated PS5 logo in white, contrasting the black midsole.
The crisp white upper of the sneakers is shiny patent leather complemented by the black laces and the elements of stunning bright blue. The cutout panel of the quarter is a deep blue that looks lit from within, like the illuminated glow of the PS5. At the same time, the inner lining and branding on the spine of the sneakers reflect the same dark blue of the midsole.
Unfortunately, these stunning and sleek sneakers are not a physical pair but a custom concept that our esteemed designer, Brandon Krige at Fortress of Solitude, managed to cook up, cementing his reign as the custom king.
Still, despite their only being electronic, we thought we would toss our hat in the ring for beautiful PlayStation 5-inspired sneakers.
