Puma’s stepping into the sneaker shadows with their latest drop. And no, that’s not a metaphor. They’ve teamed up with Marvel and Advisory Board Crystals for a Fantastic Four-inspired blind box sneaker collab… and literally no one knows what the shoes look like. Not even the buyers.
If you’ve ever thrown away $200 on a mystery box hoping to strike gold and instead got a dusty pair of GRs you’d never wear in public, this one might trigger you. Sneakerheads have been vocal for years about how “blind box” sneaker culture feels more like a scam than a surprise. Remember those viral unboxing videos where someone pays $300 to open a mysterious shoebox only to get something worth half that? Yeah. That’s the vibe.
But Puma clearly thinks there’s still enough hype left in the tank, or at least enough Marvel fans willing to take the risk. The Fantastic Four: First Steps tie-in includes seven character-based designs: Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, The Thing, Silver Surfer, Galactus and Doctor Doom. Each one’s got its own sneaker. Each one has a unique level of rarity. And each one will stay a mystery until it’s delivered to your door.

To add a layer of “collectible madness,” there are also four different sleeve designs. So in total, we’re talking a whole web of variations, like a sneaker lottery with superhero odds.
The collab is a three-way effort. Marvel brings the IP. Puma brings the platform. And Advisory Board Crystals brings the weird. Founded in 2015 by Remington Guest and Heather Haber, the LA-based streetwear label is known for holographic touches, embroidered chaos and, yes, actual crystals sewn into garments. They’ve worked with Merrell, Vans and Diemme before, but this is their first outing with Puma. And it’s a loud one.
The whole blind box concept isn’t exactly new, but it’s picking up momentum again thanks to trends like the Labubu craze (you know, those creepy-cute art toys that pop up on your feed). Nike even dipped in with their December 2024 SB “Wizard of Oz” drop, where only a lucky few scored the limited-edition colourway. Most just got regular pairs.

If you’re feeling brave (or reckless), raffle entries are live now at advisoryboardcrystals.com. They’re charging $200 a pop, no entry limit, and the draw officially closes July 27, 2025. That’s already passed. Winners were supposed to be announced on July 28, which is today. And still, no one’s seen a single shoe. No leaks. No on-foot looks. Just blurry teaser images and some vague close-ups from Advisory Board Crystals. At this point, you’re buying based on a box, a name, and a prayer.
Would you risk $200 on a blind superhero sneaker you might not even like? Or would you rather just wait for the resale market to flood with the ones people don’t want? Either way, this one’s for the risk-takers. Or the collectors. Or the very patient.
