Custom sneaker artists have long used their creative skills to conjure up fantastic designs that tell different stories or follow certain themes. In fact, custom sneakers are the perfect medium for self-expression or honouring a certain cause or message. A great example of this is the Air Jordan 1 High “WE WILL DEFEND” design by Stomping Ground Customs.

It’s not a stretch to suggest that this design draws inspiration from the military. Not only does its name bear a striking resemblance to the US Army’s motto (This We’ll Defend), but the olive, khaki, and beige splashes are synonymous with the army’s camouflage print.

Moving along, the shoe’s collar and profile Swooshes offer a design inspired by the American flag. Wavy stripes in red and white dress the collar, while the check logo is covered in the Stars and Stripes.

The shoe also features the words “We Will Defend” inscribed in military-esque typeface on the heel and extends onto the quarter panels.

Finally, a vintage yellow midsole and a bright red rubber outsole round out the design while crimson laces tie the look together.

This design is definitely a beautiful way to honour the brave men and women in uniform.

Unfortunately, these patriotic Air Jordan 1 High sneakers are a one-of-one custom design crafted for one of Stomping Ground Customs’ clients. That said, you can always contact the talented artists at SGNY for a custom-made pair of your own.
