Whether you love aliens, ghosts or chosen ones, the sci-fi world has some pretty top-notch kicks to offer. There have been epic pairs forever immortalised in film, but we can’t forget those created by brands in honour of the sci-fi films fans love. Take a look at a few of the best sci-fi inspired sneakers below.
Reebok Alien Stomper Hi (1986, 2016)

The Reebok Alien Stomper is as much a part of sci-fi lore as the movie it featured in. Sigourney Weaver took out plenty of Xenomorphs while wearing these bad boys in James Cameron’s 1986 blockbuster, Aliens, and the original high-tops still fetch a pretty penny on resale sites to this day. Easily one of the best sci-fi inspired sneakers to ever exist.
Nike Air Mag (1989, 2011, 2016)

Marty McFly’s power-lacing sneakers are one of the coolest teched-out kicks sci-fi lovers have had the chance to own. While the pair from Back To The Future Part 2 needed a crew member to pull strings for the self-lacing effect, Nike released pairs with actual self-lacing capabilities and rechargeable lights in 2016. How do you top that?
Nike x Transformers Sneaker Collection (2009)

Sneakerheads could run with the good guys or take a walk on the bad side with Nike’s Transformers collection. The designs were cooked up to coincide with the release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in 2009. Autobots like Bumblebee and Optimus Prime were brought to life on key silhouettes like the Nike Zoom FP and Nike Dunk High, but the Swoosh team didn’t skimp on the Sharkalaid and Flightclub inspired by Soundwave and Megatron.
Adidas Top Ten Hi x Star Wars “Boba Fett” (2020)

Adidas is hands down the Supreme Ruler of Star Wars collabs. They’ve had an opportunity to create several themed kicks inspired by fan-fave characters like C-3PO and Yoda, but their “Boba Fett” inspired Adidas Top Ten from 2020 is still the ultimate must-have.
Reebok x Ghostbusters Ghost Smashers (2020)

Reebok and Ghostbusters: Afterlife brought something strange to the sneaker scene with their Ghost Smashers design from 2020. The design is mostly inspired by the team’s ECTO-1 mobile, but also throws in various other nods to the franchise. While some of the references are more subtle, you definitely can’t ignore the detachable proton pack on the heel.
APL x Dune Sneaker Collection (2021)

DUNE teamed up with APL in 2021 for three sneakers inspired by the movie’s minimalist aesthetic. The duo offered up special takes on the Superfuture, Techloom Defender Atreides, and TechLoom Bliss silhouettes in mostly tonal colour schemes. You could picture these kicks fitting right into the dystopian world.
PUMA x Ghostbusters Suede XL Collection (2024)

In 2024, PUMA helped celebrate 40 years of the Ghostbusters franchise with two Suede XL designs. The designs took cues from the notorious villains of the franchise, the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man and Slimer. You can practically see the characters jump to life on these shoes.
Air Force 1 “Matrix” (2025)

Nike’s “Triple Black” Air Force 1 entered the Matrix in 2025. Sure, this AF1 design isn’t an official team-up with the franchise, but plenty of sneaker sites named the style after the movies because of the green embroidery running down the sides. You can’t help but see green “digital rain” when you look at this design.
Nike Ja 3 “Jurassic Park” (2026)

The Nike Ja 3 was one of the hottest basketball sneakers of 2025, and it’s set to carry on that momentum in 2026. On the cards for this year is a collab with Jurassic Park that sees Ja Morant’s signature sneaks dressed up as the tour vehicles from the original film.
Air Jordan 1 “Optimus Prime”

Sneaker artist Dariyn Enriquez imagined what it would look like if the Autobot leader took over the Air Jordan 1. Think flame-covered underlays topped with matte grey leather. It’s hard not to wish you had these beauties in your rotation. Take a closer look at them here.
