Editor’s note: This is an unofficial fan-made concept design from the Sneaker Fortress team — not a real Jordan Brand product, sample, or confirmed release. Treat all colourway, packaging, and material details below as concept-art description, not release info.

Fresh off the Air Jordan 3 “True Blue” retro landing July 18, and with Tom and Jerry: Forbidden Compass arriving in theatres this September, the timing felt right to bring the cat-and-mouse chase to Tinker Hatfield’s classic silhouette.

A Concept Rooted in 85 Years of Tom & Jerry

Can it be true? Tom and Jerry, the legendary cartoon double act, have held their reigns of entertainment since 1940. That’s right, this cherished animated pair has been spreading joy for 85 years, and it doesn’t seem like they’re going anywhere anytime soon. They’ve won hearts across all generations, consistently enchanting fans of all ages. For those of us who spent our childhood marvelling at their comedic exploits, these Air Jordan 3 Tom and Jerry sneakers, conceptualised by Brandon Krige, will surely stir up a wave of nostalgia.

Bringing the Duo to Tinker Hatfield’s 1988 Silhouette

Not too long ago, we gave you a peek at our envisioned Air Jordan 1 Tom and Jerry sneakers, meticulously crafted by Jarrod Saunders from our team here at Fortress Entertainment. The concept design ingeniously fused the legendary characters into a pair of mismatched sneakers, with Tom gracing the right shoe and Jerry on the left. Now, the cat-and-mouse chase continues with these Air Jordan 3 Tom and Jerry sneakers.

Of course, we couldn’t resist the lure of translating this concept onto the classic 1988 mould, a model that holds the honour of being the first-ever Jordan design brought to life by the esteemed Tinker Hatfield. The Air Jordan 3 model is a sanctuary of creativity. With its iconic panelling and unique elephant print, this model offers unlimited freedom of artistic interpretation. It can be harmonised with Tom and Jerry’s exceptional aesthetics, as distinctively visualised by our gifted creator, Brandon Krige.

Jerry’s Orange-Brown Details vs. Tom’s Classic Grey

Keeping the mismatched theme (in line with our splendid AJ1 concept) these AJ3 Tom and Jerry sneakers feature Jerry, the cheeky mouse, on the left shoe and the crafty cat, Tom, on the right.

Both designs draw upon a white tumbled leather base that seamlessly extends onto the leather trim overlays. The signature elephant print in varying shades of grey can be seen embellishing the toe and heel. This design detail has also been thoughtfully added to the eye stays of the sneakers.

However, the distinction between both pairs lies in using the characters’ signature colours in their respective designs. Jerry’s pair adds a pop of orangey-brown, while Tom’s pair showcases his characteristic grey tone. These hues playfully dot the perforated section below the laces, the eyelets, the perforated collar, the lining, the polyurethane midsole, and the rubber outsole.

Securing these designs together are immaculate white laces, which enhance the overall aesthetic. When combined, these design aspects result in a pair of sneakers that gently nod at the playful duo’s characteristic looks without overdoing the elements. The inclusion of their colours adds an understated touch of personality to the sneakers, allowing enthusiasts to cherish the reference without it being too overt or overwhelming.

Packaging Fit for the Chase

As with our initial design, these sneakers are hypothetically ‘housed’ within a radiant canary yellow box, detailed with red accents. The box playfully showcases Tom and Jerry in their classic chase scenes on both the lid and the inside. In our view, this delightful packaging is half the fun of the shoes and deserves to be repeated for this pair.

Which Tom & Jerry Concept Do You Want to See Real?

Regardless of whether these are realised as a mismatched pair as envisioned or as a seamlessly coordinated set, we hope to see these Air Jordan 3 Tom and Jerry sneakers transcend into reality someday. Maybe, just maybe, the show’s 85th anniversary could be an opportune moment for this dream to manifest. Of course, this might be wishful thinking or fanciful daydreaming. But until such a day arrives, continue following us for more exciting sneaker customs and concepts like this.
