Na na naaah na na – I know you don’t need any music to hear that theme song in your head. No dinosaur movie franchise has soared like Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. Aside from the movies, there is also the animated series on Netflix, official makeup collections, stationery, and so much more…but where are the shoes?! Don’t worry; our fantastic designer at Fortress of Solitude has us covered with a pair of Air Jordan 3 inspired by Jurassic Park.

Introducing the Air Jordan 3 Jurassic Park custom sneakers by Brandon Krige here at Fortress, or as I like to call them, the Velociraptor Racers. And yes. That’s a Velociraptor eye. This stunning custom concept is the perfect combination of practicality and style, not removing anything from the functionality we love about the Air Jordan 3 silhouette while adding something we have never seen before to the collection.
Starting from the bottom, we have a lush forest green outsole contrasted by a thick white midsole and the typical “eyeliner” for the midsole that the Air Jordan 3 usually sports is in a deep black for this pair. The white midsole fits perfectly into this design, giving the illusion of a razor-sharp row of pearly whites that you would see with a velociraptor chasing after you.
The usually clear window into the air unit in the sole is the perfect place to hide the mosquito stuck in amber that started it all. We love this subtle hint at the origin of the dinosaurs.
From there, the panelling moves into more of that forest green, but now we see what would generally be called elephant print if it were in grey. Still, it suits the pair perfectly, making you think of the scaly hide you would expect from our Jurassic-era friends. This panelling can be seen on the forefront of the sneakers, on the mudguard, and at the back of the sneakers, completely wrapping around the heel.

Providing a slight separation and difference in texture on the sneakers, we have a portion of smooth black leather. The piece of black in the otherwise green and white pair of sneakers really helps to anchor the pair, giving it a bit of an edge and helping to give the illusion of the Velociraptor’s face represented in the sneakers.
From there, the upper is a dark green reptile-like leather that is more intricate than the elephant-print style on the overlay pieces below, further pushing the narrative of reptilian skin blanketing the upper of the sneakers. On this portion, the Velociraptor eye stands out proudly, rendered in a life-like clarity through a glass reflective eye-piece.
The lowest lace stays of the lace unit are perfectly positioned and made up of the same green leather as the upper to look like nostrils for the Velociraptor. In contrast, the rest of the lace unit is padded white leather, bringing a level of perfect contrast to the otherwise dark upper. Trey’s laces and eyelets provide an excellent middle ground between black and white before a beautifully embroidered Jurassic Park logo can be seen on the tongue.
Be honest; you want these just because of how cool they look. Who wouldn’t want the illusion of Velociraptors on their feet? Your fight-or-flight instinct might kick in, and you will run faster with the fear of dinosaurs chasing you.
