These Limited Air Max Sneakers Gets A Homer Hom Air Look

Adidas has been sailing high with a line of sneaker collaborations highlighting characters from the legendary animation The Simpsons. In the recent past, they’ve unveiled several limited-edition Simpson-inspired models featuring details and styles reminiscent of characters such as Bart, Lisa, and even Krusty the Clown. However, none have left a mark quite as unique as the Homer Simpson Stan Smiths with their nod to the iconic visual gag that has become a beloved online meme. These playful Simpson sneakers make reference to an episode titled Homer Loves Flanders, where Homer quietly disappears into the bushes upon Flanders rejecting his invitation — but what happens when the bush meme finds its way onto a different sneaker silhouette?

The answer to that comes from Polish shoemaker Margiello (@margiello_). Drawing inspiration from the original adidas Stan Smith Homer Simpsons, he dreamt up his own pair of HOM (AIR) — Sounds almost like the French pronunciation — Simpson sneakers, a custom pair of kicks crafted from Nike’s acclaimed Air Max 1 silhouette. And rest assured, they are a sight to behold.

Not dissimilar to the adidas Stan Smiths, the Hom (AIR) Simpson sneakers boast a sleek white leather upper, delivered with white laces and gold lettering. It pulls together yellowed midsoles and a fuzzy green fabric mimicking the scene where Homer disappears into the bush, a detail featuring prominently on the left tongue as opposed to featuring on the heel as with the original adidas Stan Smiths. Just like the left tongue, the right one sports the same fabric with a miniature yellow Nike Swoosh and “Air Max” text peeping from beneath the bush.

However, Margiello doesn’t stop there. Instead, he goes the extra mile by applying the lush green fabric to more parts of the shoe. The Profile Swooshes also bear the same lush green fabric with patches of it appearing on various points of the shoe’s front as well. This gives the illusion of bush overgrowth busting through the shoe. It’s a nice touch to differentiate this HOM (AIR) Simpson sneakers from their Stan Smith counterpart.

Further enhancing the design, the trainer features gold HOM (AIR) lettering on the lateral quarter panels and again on the heel. The design concludes with a yellowed sole unit showcasing the iconic visible air unit in the sole.

To complete the design, a pair of green textured leather insoles complements the colour palette perfectly. Each left shoe indicates Margiello’s name written in the distinctive yellow Simpsons font. In contrast, the right shoe showcases his logo along with the number of the pair — a limited edition of merely five pairs, with each distinguished by its own unique number on the insole.

If you have a penchant for these unique Simpsons sneakers, they’re presently available on Margiello’s website at a price of €1,400. Though a tad steep for the average sneaker enthusiast, we can still appreciate the unique design and attention to detail that Margiello has put into these sneakers. His recreation of the iconic adidas Stan Smith Homer Simpson sneakers is nothing short of impressive.
