Caitlin Clark’s Yellow Zest Nike Caitlin 1 Just Debuted on the Biggest Cover in Gaming — Before It Even Released

Clark's unreleased signature colorway got its official reveal on the NBA 2K27 Deluxe Edition cover, months ahead of its Holiday 2026 retail drop.

Who would have thought that the digital sneakers in the NBA 2K franchise would become just as popular as the real deal? Yet, every year fans are hyped by new drops and secret colorways hidden within the game. 2026, of course, is no different. While most sneakers need a release date before they blow up, Caitlin Clark’s Yellow Zest Nike Caitlin 1 skipped the line entirely. The shoe is now the cover star on NBA 2K27, one of the biggest video game releases of the year.

This week, 2K Games announced its cover athletes for the upcoming title, split across three players: Victor Wembanyama appears on the Standard Edition, Derrick Rose shows up on the Ultra Edition, and Caitlin Clark gets the Deluxe Edition cover.

Clark is shown in a navy uniform against an orange-red-yellow backdrop, dribbling with her back to the defense. But it’s her feet that are getting all the attention. In its full digital glory, we see a bright yellow pair of her still-unreleased signature shoe. This is the Yellow Zest Nike Caitlin 1. And it’s already got everyone talking.

An Unreleased Shoe Gets a Global Unveiling

It isn’t another retro, a PE, or a colorway that’s already been sitting on shelves for months. It’s a pair that actually doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet. This means that this is Nike and 2K effectively giving it a global unveiling to millions of gamers before Nike’s own marketing did. In fact, Clark’s actual signature line doesn’t even launch until October 1, 2026.

Yellow Zest Nike Caitlin 1: Release Date, Price, and Where to Buy

The debut colorway, Racer Blue, arrives then for $140. The Yellow Zest (style code: IH7423-700) is scheduled to follow later (most sites are reporting holiday season 2026) for the same price. The sneakers will be available through SNKRS, Foot Locker, DSG, Hibbett and probably more stores closer to the date.

Breaking Down the Yellow Zest Colorway

The Yellow Zest is meant to lean into Clark’s Indiana Fever palette. The upper is mostly yellow, with the repeated C-shaped nodes covering most of the sneaker. If you look closely, you’ll see it, and it goes all around the entire shoe. There’s also a double Swoosh on the sneaker – one in blue (the smaller) and one in metallic green-gold (the bigger). On the back of the shoe, you’ll find the “CC” logo on the heel.

Cover Art vs. Real Shoe: What’s Different

The in-game render, however, doesn’t perfectly capture all these details of the shoe. The digitized version skips over a few production details. For example, the blue outsole doesn’t show up the way it does on the physical pair. While it’s not unusual for this to happen, it’s worth knowing if you’re using the cover as your reference point.

Why This Cover Is a Bigger Deal Than It Looks

What actually makes this a milestone, though, isn’t just that a WNBA player is now on a 2K cover. That’s happened a few times before. She isn’t the first. We’ve gotten Candace Parker, Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird, Sabrina Ionescu, A’ja Wilson, and, most recently, Angel Reese on the game’s covers over the years. But all of them were separate WNBA-branded editions. This year, however, 2K hasn’t announced a separate WNBA Edition at all. Instead, Clark’s Deluxe Edition cover is the main cover. That’s very different. And her shoe is right there with her.

Fans Are Here for the Shoe (Even If the Cover Art Is Getting Roasted)

Fan reaction to Caitlin Clark’s Yellow Zest Nike Caitlin 1 has been really good too. Instagram comments under the reveal were positive: “Love these,” “OK YES I LOVE THE NEW CAITLIN CLARKS SHOES,” and a lot of fire emojis.

The cover art, however, drew some pushback online – mostly because of Clark’s face. Fans are questioning whether the digital version of her on the cover actually looks like her.

When Can You Cop the Yellow Zest Nike Caitlin 1?

NBA 2K27 launches worldwide September 4, 2026, with early access starting August 28 for Deluxe and Ultra Edition buyers. The Yellow Zest Nike Caitlin 1 follows sometime in the Holiday 2026 window at $140. Until then, the closest most fans will get to owning it is the digital pair on their console home screen.
