Die-hard Bruce Lee enthusiasts may already have an extensive collection of black and yellow sneakers to select from, but that doesn’t mean we don’t welcome fresh designs into the fold. It’s certainly been a popular colourway in the basketball sneaker lineup, with players like Kobe Bryant, Kyrie Irving, and Dwayne Wayde tapping into Lee’s signature colour scheme to create some memorable kicks-and that’s just scraping the surface. However, a pair we certainly wish into existence is none other than a Tatum 2 “Bruce Lee” as imagined by sneaker artist Dean Robinson of Tatum Kicks.

The Influence of “Bruce Lee” on the Tatum 2 Design

Of course, the inspiration behind the sneaker’s colourway comes straight from the celebrated Game of Death jumpsuit–an iconic piece in movie costume history that has become primarily associated with Bruce Lee.

Reflecting the suit’s colour scheme, the sneakers boast a bright yellow mesh upper, perfectly set off by the dark black Phylon frame. You’ll find yellow foam and textile pods encased within the frame, nodding towards the infamous black and yellow suit.

The deep black shade of the frame is mirrored by the shoe’s tongue, laces, and interior lining. These elements harmoniously balance out the vibrant yellow that dominates most of the upper.

Adding to the distinct look of this pair are vibrant red accents, which include Lee’s signature scratch marks. These scratch marks, pulled from the marks that appear on his face and chest in a scene from the film Enter The Dragon, have become just as synonymous with the legend since his passing. All this pair is really missing is the Kickman logo, but the only chance of us seeing that is if these become an official collaboration with the Bruce Lee estate.

A yellow and black sole unit finishes the look, perfectly tying together the aesthetic. The overall design is exactly what you would expect from a tribute to the iconic Bruce Lee—bold, striking, and full of personality. We certainly hope Jordan Brand makes these kicks a reality.

Is there a possibility for a Bruce Lee colourway in the Jordan Tatum 2 lineup?

The idea of this pair coming to life is within the bounds of reality, considering Nike’s history of releasing designs inspired by Bruce Lee. While we can’t be sure if Jayson Tatum himself is a fan of the iconic figure himself (though really, who isn’t?), he did sport a pair of “Bruce Lee” Nike Kyrie 3s in 2018, showing he’s certainly not opposed to the colour scheme. Yet, whether these shoes will spring from concept to concrete product is currently up in the air. So, If you are keen on the look of the Tatum 2 “Bruce Lee”, you might have to pick up a regular pair and get creative with some paint – at least for the time being.

But as I said, there are plenty of Bruce Lee-themed kicks available as alternatives while we wait for the Tatum 2 “Bruce Lee” to be realised. In the meantime, you can follow us here at Sneaker Fortress for more custom and concept Bruce Lee sneaker designs.
