Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan 4 has been through more makeovers than a Disney Channel star post-2010. And now, thanks to BMX pro Nigel Sylvester and the magic of glow-in-the-dark design, the silhouette’s latest transformation, the Air Jordan 4 RM “Gamma Blue”, might just be its brightest yet.
Originally introduced in July 2024 through Sylvester’s “Grandma’s Driveway” collab, the Air Jordan 4 RM isn’t just a remix. It’s a full-blown redesign. Think of it as the Air Jordan 4’s tougher, meaner little cousin. It’s got a lower ankle cut, beefed-up materials, and a flexible support cage that replaces the OG wings and mesh netting. So, basically, this version of the 4 can handle a kickflip and still look fresh.
Over the past year, Jordan Brand has thrown the Air Jordan 4 RM into everything from Bruce Lee yellow-and-black to Pine Green homages. But few have stood out like the upcoming Air Jordan 4 RM Black/Gamma Blue edition, and it’s not just because it looks cool, but it also glows at night.

By day, it’s a sleek combo of black ballistic mesh and charcoal suede. Subtle, tough, clean. But flip off the lights and the support cage and outsole go full sci-fi, glowing a radioactive green that feels straight out of a 1980s arcade game or a kid’s nightlight collection. If you’re wondering, yes, the glow-in-the-dark feature is a first for the RM version of the AJ4.
Of course, glow-in-the-dark sneakers aren’t exactly new. Nike’s done this before, from the 2012 “Galaxy” LeBron 9s and KD 4s to the Halloween-favorite Nike Air Force 1 “Skeleton.” Even the Across the Spider-Verse Jordan 1 had a little glow magic. And who could forget the artist collab of all collabs—2017’s KAWS x Air Jordan 4, which also rocked that glow look.

What makes this version different is that it also serves as a cool callback too. The colorway became popular because of the Air Jordan 11 Retro from 2013. That version didn’t glow, though. This one does.
The Air Jordan 4 RM “Gamma Blue” doesn’t have an official release date just yet, but it’s expected to drop sometime this fall for $155 (style code: FQ7939-040). For that price you’re basically getting a pair of sneakers and a flashlight in one.
As one Instagram commenter put it: “I like these.”
