2024 has undoubtedly been an exciting year for Nike SB. Not only have they introduced remarkable new skate silhouettes, but they’ve also delivered a lineup of unique collaborations that have sneakerheads buzzing with excitement. One standout among these is the Di’orr Greenwood Nike SB Dunk High “Rugged Orange” — a design you definitely don’t want to miss.

Who is Di’orr Greenwood?

Who is Di’Orr Greenwood, you ask? She is an immensely talented skateboarder originating from the Navajo Reservation in northeastern Arizona. But skateboarding is just one string to her bow.

In addition to teaching the art of skateboarding and designing unique skateboard decks, Di’Orr is also an accomplished artist and even a skilled flute maker – talk about being a jack of all trades. Now, her recent collaboration with Nike SB adds the title of sneaker designer to her already impressive list of achievements.

But although her collaboration on the Dunk High might be her first-ever, Greenwood didn’t hesitate to go bold with the aesthetic. The talented skateboarder has poured her artistry and Navajo heritage into every inch of the shoe, making it nothing short of spectacular.

A Closer Look at the Di’orr Greenwood Nike SB Dunk High “Rugged Orange“

Greenwood’s Dunk High is not just a sneaker; it’s a dazzling tribute to the Diné tribe and a celebration of her Navajo heritage. The bold colours and mix of materials used in this collaboration not only showcase her unique design flair but also honour her cultural roots, making this sneaker a true work of art.

The first detail that will likely catch your eye is the striking teal tongue, quarter panels, and collar made from short-haired suede. This is contrasted by ‘Rugged Orange’ overlays encircling the toe, heel, and ankle flap. However, there is so much more to appreciate in the intricate design.

Take, for example, the reworked toebox. Instead of the usual perforations, you’ll find a starry pattern that extends to the lacing system. It’s a small but meaningful twist.

The celestial theme continues onto the Nike Swooshes on the sides, stitched with the Big Dipper constellation in crisp white thread.

Adding another layer of depth, a Native American-inspired gradient appears on the lace coverings and at the heel, while tribal patterns further embellish the heel counter. These details make the shoe not just vibrant but also culturally rich.

Yet, Greenwood’s Nike SB sneakers are as meaningful inside as they are outside. The insoles feature a graphic of the Arizona valleys, a lovely nod to her roots. And for the lucky few, the shoelaces of these Dunks are embellished with sterling silver heirlooms featuring a turquoise stone at the centre, making them genuinely one of a kind.

Finally, this vibrant masterpiece sits atop a white midsole and a black, gold, and turquoise rubber outsole.

It’s evident that Greenwood’s knack for creating eye-catching skateboard decks translates seamlessly into this medium as well. These Dunks promise to be one of the year’s most coveted and unique sneaker releases.
