Over the years, Nike SB has paid homage to some heavy hitters in the Swooshes arsenal, with collections like the J-Pack and their ongoing collaborations on the Jordan 4 being some of their most exceptional “in-house” sneaker hits to date. These collaborations and special edition pairs have set the stage for all sorts of exciting fusions of iconic Nike silhouettes and colourways in the future. In fact, Michael Hernandez of The Bruin Co. has imagined one such fusion we absolutely need to see brought to life: the Nike SB “Air Monarch” Dunk Low.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
This Nike SB “Air Monarch” Dunk Low design, or perhaps more fittingly named the “Dad Dunks,” is the perfect fusion of two of Nike’s most iconic silhouettes. You get a bit of both worlds: the aesthetics of the Air Monarch, which debuted in 2003, with the skate-ready functionality and streamlined design of the Dunk Low.
First off, the shoe design features a clean white leather upper with overlays, Swooshes, and pull tabs styled after the Nike Air Monarch 4 “White Navy,” a colourway that has become a staple for many, including Tom Cruise. However, the shoe’s overall shape aligns more closely with the popular Nike SB Dunk Low, offering a modern and sleek aesthetic that the traditional “dad shoe” usually lacks.
The pair is finished with small touches like the “Air Monarch” branding on the tongue of the right shoe and Bruin Studio’s logo on the lateral heel. All this atop a white midsole and navy rubber outsole, which we’re hopeful would retain that classic Air Monarch comfort and support that have kept the model flying off shelves for years.
Sure the Air Monarch might not be famous for its trendy design (we all know it’s the “comfort” shoe), but this fusion with the SB Dunk Low certainly enhances its style and appeal. If it ever hits the shelves, it’s bound to be a hot seller.
Is The Nike SB “Air Monarch” Dunk Low Available For Purchase
Currently, this pair remains a conceptual design. However, The Bruin Co. team is eager to see their vision realised, so watch this space.
In the meantime, explore other fascinating concepts that should be made a reality. For example, who wouldn’t want a pair of Jordan 1 Crocs or a chance to score a limited edition Louis Vuitton x Air Jordan 1 sneaker? While we wait for these creative ideas to materialise, stay tuned to Sneaker Fortress for more remarkable customs and concepts.
