First Official Look At The Nike Zoom LeBron 4 “Eggplant”

In a fortunate twist of events (or, more accurately, clever planning by the powers that be at Nike), 2024 has seen a remarkable double take on the “Eggplant” theme. On the one hand, we’ve witnessed the triumphant comeback of the legendary Nike Air Foamposite “Eggplant” – a reintroduction made earlier this year in February. However, we’re also awaiting the unveiling of the brand new Nike Zoom LeBron 4 “Eggplant” scheduled for a summer release. So, if you happen to have a soft spot for the lustrous colour scheme, this upcoming iteration shouldn’t slip off your radar.

Why an “Eggplant” Nike LeBron 4?

When you first hear about the Nike Zoom LeBron 4 model being released in an “Eggplant” colourway, you may instinctively attempt to draw a connection between LeBron James and this choice of colour. After all, it’s only natural to try and find a logical reasoning or nostalgic link.

However, the simple truth seems to be that there’s no particular background story apart from the feature of a Foamposite moulded upper shared by this model and the iconic Foamposite One. So, It could be a design decision that stands on its own merits rather than that of an intriguing backstory. 

However, allow me to float my own theory- though it’s nothing more than a curious speculation at the moment. A certain Penny Hardaway happens to be one of LeBron James’ basketball idols, and the Foamposite One was Hardaway’s signature shoe. Is it a stretch to suggest that there’s a subtle homage here? After all, LeBron James once created a footwear tribute to Hardaway in 2010: the blue and black Nike LeBron 7 “Heroes Pack (Penny).” 

It’s just food for thought, though. At the end of the day, what’s undeniable is the allure of this intriguing colourway.

The Sneaker Design

The upper features the Foamposite material in a stunning blend of “Black,” “Varsity Purple,” and “Blue Tint” that gives the shoe that spectacular eggplant finish. The colour scheme is carefully balanced with the introduction of black nubuck around the collar, seamlessly emulating the aesthetic of the Foamposite One. 

Standout features include the vibrant purple Swoosh near the heel and prominent buttons along the collar’s inner edge. To stay true to the original concept and design theme, these shoes round off with a black midsole and a clear rubber outsole that maintains the OG vibe.

Nike LeBron 4 “Eggplant” Release Details

Get ready to welcome the striking Nike Zoom LeBron 4 “Eggplant” in Summer 2024. While we’re still waiting for confirmation on the precise date, we can speculate on the price tag—$250 USD. These kicks will hit Nike’s shelves and selected retailers exclusively in men’s sizes.
