New Balance’s lifestyle range is heavily based on its archives. The brand has plenty to call on in that regard, which can either be relaunched with a modern twist, or add new colourways to the roster to give fans more of what they want. This latest drop falls into the latter category, launching with a Y2K throwback via new colourways for the New Balance ABZORB 2010.

The ABZORB cushioning was originally introduced over three decades ago, in 1993. It went on to revolutionise running technology at the time, putting New Balance at the top amongst elite running brands. Reintroduced in 2025, the technology has become a signature feature for several fan-favourite lifestyle sneakers.
The New Balance ABZORB 2010 represents the most recognisable expression of that revival, featuring a progressive design synonymous with the ABZORB range. It combines an exaggerated ABZORB sole unit with an upper inspired by popular Y2K-era styles, offering a fresh aesthetic rooted in New Balance heritage and reimagined for modern-day streetwear.
The release of the ABZORB 2010 is fronted by New Balance ambassador, athlete and footballer Tim Weah. A fan-favourite for both club and country, the Marseille-based, New York-born winger is best known for his speed, versatility, and style — qualities that extend beyond the pitch into his work as a musician and artist. That dual identity, his dedication to his craft alongside his passion for music, mirrors what the ABZORB 2010 is going for: a balance of premium performance and style.

The latest ABZORB 2010 features four new colourways: the U2010424 in Grey Matter and Fan Blue, the U20109T4 in NB Navy and Grey Matter, the U20109GA in Sea Salt and Timberwolf, and the U201019Z in Harbor Grey and Pebble. The colour palette feels like an extension of NB’s Grey Days release from earlier this year, with its predominantly grey base and touches of colour added throughout.
The new colourways for the New Balance ABZORB 2010 are available exclusively at JD Sports stores globally, as well as online. It retails for $160 (R 3199 in South Africa). Full specs and the ABZORB 2010’s design story are available on New Balance’s official product page.
