The PUMA Inhale Returns: A Blast from the Past or Just a Tired Rehash?

PUMA digs into its archives to release the PUMA Inhale, carrying the fearless attitude that defined it in the early 2000s with a modern twist.

As with most sneaker brands, reimagining or re-releasing sneakers from their archives has been an upward trend over the past decade. Recently, we’ve seen PUMA drop a few new collections with influence from its archives, including the Ghostbusters x PUMA Suede XL Pack and PUMA x LAAMS Suede. In 2019, PUMA relaunched the Inhale sneaker from its archives. In 2024, the brand once again reimagines the classic PUMA Inhale with a refreshed colourway.

In recent weeks, the Inhale has become a familiar name in sneaker circles. The brand also collaborated with A$AP ROCKY on the PUMA Inhale Distressed colourway, continuing its fearless attitude that defined the early 2000s sneaker culture. The design fused streetwear, fashion and motorsport. As such, it captured the imagination of fans and quickly sold out in various markets around the world, highlighting its popularity.

The PUMA Inhale sneaker belongs to the Cellerator family, which features the brand’s signature CELL cushioning technology. This aids in producing maximum comfort while still featuring a performance-driven design. The CELL technology was enhanced in 2019 with its relaunch, and in 2024, it again goes under the knife. Its redesign features a wider fit and a softer midsole for enhanced comfort and all-day wear.

Its bold lines, contours and curves make the sneaker stand out from the crowd. This is most evident with its tendril-like lines crawling across the sneaker’s upper. It was inspired by human biology, further emphasising the sneaker’s moniker. The raging red Formstrip illustrates the arteries from a beating heart, delivering the lifeblood to the upper. Its contrast against the black base further emphasises its bold design choice.

The PUMA Inhale is back this November and will be released on the 24th of this month. It’ll be available at PUMA.com and various other retailers worldwide.
